1972 Rolex Milgauss (Ref. 1019) W/ Papers, RSC Papers, Booklets, & Letter From the Original Owner
The Rolex Milgauss was created when the scientists of the CERN nuclear research facility, just outside of Geneva Switzerland, reached out to Rolex to manufacture a watch that would withstand high magnetization. Scientists of this era performed their research in highly controlled nuclear facilities and were constantly in a highly magnetized environment, deeming most watches useless. The watch Rolex created for CERN can withstand 1000 gauss of magnetism, mille = 1000, hence the name Milgauss. This allowed the scientist of CERN and other scientists of the era to go about their daily professions and accurately time their experiments.
A simple watch aesthetically, with a brushed silver dial, stick markers, geometric hands, and a smooth outer bezel in a modest 38mm case, the Milgauss has elements of charm with red text and a red-tipped sweep second hand. Traditionally worn on the bracelet, the Rolex Milgauss Ref. 1019 is loved by collectors for its simplistic, but striking no-nonsense design.
This well documented Rolex Milgauss ref. 1019 is a complete collectors set, featuring the watches original guarantee paper booklet from Rolex, a RSC service receipt from 2010 and another from 2019, its original booklets, and even a letter from the wife of the original from the original sale of the watch. Besides the accompanying accessories, the watch itself is in exceptional condition as well.

The excellent and unique 38mm Milgauss case is in excellent condition and has been lightly polished in the past. The case retains thick and symmetrical lugs that display minimal signs of use. The smooth stainless steel bezel is also in wonderful condition, showing only minimal signs of previous use. The case retains its original iron faraday shield movement cover as well as its X-spring within the case back. The original Rolex 7836 bracelet with 380 end pieces is stamped 1/72 and retains 12 links that shows light stretch from use.
The stunning brushed silver dial is simply exceptional with no age or damage present whatsoever. The tritium tipped markers display no degradation when inspected under U.V. light and have achieved a lovely creamy yellow coloration. The original tritium hands match the dial perfectly and show no degradation under U.V. light inspection.
The watch comes complete with its original Rolex Guarantee Papers, service papers, letter from the original owner, and booklets. The watch is keeping time perfectly, backed by a 1-year warranty on accurate timekeeping.
