Seiko
1972 Seiko 5 Sports Speed-Timer Automatic Chronograph (Ref. 6139-8002) Blue "Fumé" Dial
While the title of "First Automatic Chronograph" is a heavily disputed claim (multiple watch companies somewhat simultaneously debuted what they claimed as "the first" automatic chronograph in 1969), there are many who believe Seiko is the rightful owner of that title with their cal. 6139 movement.
It's the heartbeat of the legendary "Pogue" chronographs – and it also beats within this incredible 6139-8002, housed in a fantastic cushion-shaped case with a striking metallic blue fumé dial.

CASE & BRACELET
The cushion-style case shows honest signs of light use, with its original factory geometry and chamfers intact, while exhibiting evidence of only minor polishing in the past. The case retains its original pushers and recessed 'button' crown, which operates the quickset day and date apertures. The case back retains its original engravings in clear and visible condition. The watch comes supplied on a two-piece handmade leather strap.
DIAL & HANDS
The striking metallic blue fumé dial is in near-perfect vintage condition with no damage present and only nominal elements of age. All lume plots are fully intact when inspected under UV light and remain a bright ivory color. The original lume-filled hands remain in excellent condition and match the dial perfectly. The orange sub-dial and chronograph hands add a welcome pop of color to the dial and are in excellent condition.
