1973 Rolex Datejust (Ref. 1601) Blue Dial
The Rolex Datejust is one of the most iconic and most beloved Rolex watches ever made, even though the Datejust was launched in 1945 it has remained a timeless classic and is instantly recognizable as an item of refined quality and functional design. The Datejust can be worn just as easily with a suit as it can be with jeans and a tee-shirt.
This specific Rolex ref. 1601 from 1973 features a blue dial which is both stunning and very uncommon, this Datejust would make a great start for a new vintage collector or be a great addition to an expanding collection. We love the early Rolex Datejust for its simplicity and its classic sophistication. Perfectly worn in any setting from formal to casual.
|Bracelet||62510H "D-Link" Jubilee W/ 555 End Pieces|
The strong case shows signs of being very lightly polished in the past and retains thick and symmetrical lugs. The white gold fluted bezel is in. excellent unpolished condition and displays almost no signs of use. The later Rolex 62510H "D-link" Jubilee bracelet with 555 end pieces retains 20 links that show only light stretch from use.
The sought-after blue sunburst "pie-pan" dial is simply stunning and in exceptionally well-preserved condition, showing only very minimal aging around some of the lume plots and date window and no blemishes whatsoever. The tritium lume plots have aged to a lovely yellow coloration and contrast nicely against the blue dial, under U.V. light inspection the lume plots exhibit no degradation and remain full and round. The original tritium hands match the dial nicely and display no degradation when inspected under U.V. light. The metallic date wheel is era correct with open 6's and 9's.
