1978 Rolex Daytona (Ref. 6265) Silver "Big Red"
The Rolex Daytona Ref 6265 AKA the “Big Red” is arguably one of the most sought-after vintage Rolex Daytona's in the Rolex Cosmograph lineup. The ref 6265 "Big Red" is iconic, timeless, & eye-catching when worn on the wrist.
The Daytona name came in 1964/1965 when Rolex decided to brand the 6239 Cosmograph reference in order to appeal to the auto racing culture of the USA and was also an official sponsor of the Daytona 500 auto race held in Daytona Beach, FL
This silver dial “Big Red” 6265 Daytona is an excellent example. The silver sunburst dial with crisp black matte subdials creates a stunning contrast. The watch really pops due to the three black sub-dials on the silver dial and iconic red “Daytona” insignia adorned above the lower center subdial at the 6 o'clock position. The stainless steel bezel is in wonderful and almost perfect condition, framing the dial perfectly.
We love the vintage Cosmograph range due to the fact that they have a high level of contrast which is something the modern Rolex Daytona range of timepieces has lost due to the completely monochromatic look of the dials found on today modern reference range.

The excellent case has been previously polished retaining, full, even lugs. The Mk.3 screw-down pushers and trip-lock crown are original to the piece. The bezel is in excellent vintage condition, showing only a slight amount of wear. The Rolex Oyster 78350 bracelet with 571 end pieces exhibits very minimal stretch and comes with 13 original links.
The clean silver "Big Red" Daytona dial with black sub-dials is in excellent condition. The trapezoidal stick markers are free of any corrosion. All of the lume dots remain intact, though exhibiting some degradation when inspected under U.V. light, and have taken on a wonderful golden patina. The hands are later luminova service hands and remain in perfect condition.
None. The watch was just completely overhauled and is running at COSC spec.
