1979 Rolex Submariner (Ref.1680)
The Rolex Submariner ref. 1680 is a stunning classic. First introduced in 1966, the ref. 1680 includes the date, unlike previous Submariners (ie. Ref. 5512 and 5513). The Infamous Red Submariner is also a ref. 1680 which had the word "Submariner" in red lettering, manufactured from 1966-1973. This watch is an example of what is referred to as the "White Dial." It is the first ref. 1680 with the word "Submariner" in white lettering.
This specific piece would make a versatile daily driver in a casual setting or would look great paired with a suit. The Ref. 1680 is an all-around wonderful sport watch, and would make a nice addition to an existing collection, or would be a unique stand-alone vintage piece.

CASE & BRACELET
The strong and symmetrical case has been lightly polished in the past and retains full crown guards and minimal signs of use. The original Mk. 3 "fat font" bezel insert is in superb condition, showing almost no signs of use, and retains its tritium pearl at the 12 o'clock position which matches the patina of the hands nicely. The Rolex 93150 Oyster bracelet with 580 end pieces is in excellent and unpolished condition, the bracelet retains 11 links with no stretch.
DIAL & HANDS
The matte black dial is an early tritium Rolex service replacement and is simply flawless with no blemishes or signs of age present. The tritium lume plots have aged to an attractive yellow patina and exhibit no degradation when inspected under U.V. light. The original tritium hands have aged slightly lighter than the dial and display no lume loss or degradation when inspected under U.V. light. The date wheel displays open 6's and 9's.
