1984 Rolex Submariner (Ref. 5513)

The Rolex Submariner reference 5513 is the embodiment of the classic dive watch. The 5513 is simple yet sophisticated and rugged. The ref. 5513 was first introduced in 1962 and ceased production in late 1989. The ref. 5513 is a purpose-built dive watch that lacks the date function like other Rolex Submariner models.

The glossy black dial 5513s were the last variation of the legendary reference that so many iconic people wore and loved. Today, these later models have become highly desirable as they are the bookend to one of the longest-running and most appreciated references Rolex has ever produced. During this time only very few 5513s made it off the production line as Rolex was preparing to introduce its successor, the ref. 14060 Submariner.

CASE & BRACELET

The strong case exhibits honest wear from use while featuring very thick and symmetrical lugs that retain slight chamfers with minimal signs of previous polishing present. The bezel insert is an OEM Rolex service unit and remains deep black in color. The Rolex 93150 Oyster bracelet with 580 end pieces dates to 1982 and retains 12 links that show some stretch and will fit up to an 8-inch wrist.

DIAL & HANDS

The original glossy black dial with white gold surround markers is in wonderful vintage condition and retains a mirror-like factory finish to the dial. The dial does exhibit some nominal elements of age that are invisible to the naked eye. The tritium lume features a subtle ivory color with no degradation present under UV light inspection. The original tritium hands mostly match the dial perfectly with some darker patina present near the center of the hand stack which is common, under UV light inspection the hands show no degradation.
