IWC has a long history of creating purpose-built timepieces, but more specifically, pilot’s watches. It’s arguably what IWC is best known for. This ref. 3706 IWC “Fliegerchronograph”, or Pilot’s Chronograph, was first introduced by IWC in 1994, and some say this is the reference from IWC that reignited the pilot’s watch craze in the mid-1990s. The 39mm case houses the robust and accurate Valjoux 7750 movement. It features a day and date complication, traditional Flieger hands reminiscent of those on the Mk XI, a domed anti-reflective sapphire crystal, and anti-magnetic properties. The earlier models also have tritium hands and markers, which adds to the vintage feel. Even with the modest 39mm size and 3-register dial, it is still very legible.

CASE & BRACELET

The robust, utilitarian case displays honest wear from use throughout, and retains very thick, symmetrical lugs that show nominal evidence of prior polishing. The "fish logo" screw-down crown and reverse-style pushers remain original to the watch. The case back retains all of the factory markings in crisp and deep condition, with light wear present. The original IWC stainless steel bracelet is a pure work of art and retains 20 links that display almost no stretch and will fit up to a 6.75-inch wrist. The watch comes with four additional bracelet links as well.

DIAL & HANDS

The matte black is flawless, with no age or damage present. The lume plots on the dial have achieved a charming creamy patina and exhibit no degradation. The original hands have been professionally restored with era-correct tritium to match the dial.

ACCESSORIES 

The watch comes with its original inner and outer boxes, warranty card (which was never filled out), serialized hangtag, and IWC pusher tools. The watch was recently serviced and is keeping time perfectly, backed by our 1-year warranty on accurate timekeeping.
