1990s TAG Heuer Carrera 12 'Re-Edition' (Ref. CS3111) Black Dial W/ Box & Papers

$ 3,950

The Heuer Carrera is one of those iconic, storied watches that pretty much everyone is enamored with. Originally released the same year as the Rolex Daytona (with which it also shared both the Singer-made dials and the Valjoux72 movement) and named after the extremely dangerous Carrera Panamericana race through Mexico, its place in the pantheon of watch models is firmly cemented.

In the '90s, TAG Heuer released the limited-edition ref. CS3111 'Re-Edition', as an homage to the early and celebrated Carreras of the 1960s. But unlike many of today's homage pieces, this one is an almost perfect clone of the original, making it a best-of-both-worlds piece that has all the vintage vibes alongside modern reliability.

CASE & BRACELET

The impressive Carrera case appears to remain unpolished and retains excellent case dimensions with only nominal signs of use. The case retains its original pump pushers and Heuer-signed crown. The screw-down case back remains in great overall condition and features all factory engravings, including its edition number still deep and fully legible with the black enamel intact. The watch comes supplied on a 2pc rally-style black leather strap.

DIAL & HANDS

The semi-matte-finished black Heuer-signed dial with white decimeter track is simply beautiful, with the only element of age being some clipping to the white decimeter track above the 1 o'clock. The tritium lume on the dial has aged to a subtle tan color, under UV light inspection all of the plots remain present, though, some minor degradation in some of the plots. The original tritium hands match the dial perfectly and display no degradation under UV light inspection.

ACCESSORIES

The watch comes with its original inner and outer boxes, booklet, and warranty card– showing the watch's sale in the year 2000 from a Harrod department store, though the information on the card is not filled out. The watch is functioning and keeping time, previous service history is unknown. A movement service can be purchased upon request.
