The IWC ref. 809A featuring the cal. 854 automatic movement (cal. 8541 with date complication) is the last of a generation of in-house movements from IWC. After the cal. 854 IWC began outsourcing for their movements to ETA and Jaeger LeCoultre. The 18k yellow gold case has been lightly polished in the past retaining strong and even lugs with light signs of use. The crown appears to be an early replacement as it does not feature the IWC fish logo. The caseback features an engraving in German text, which translates to "Mr. Fritz Löffel 25 years of loyal service, Swiss Industrial Company" in English. The watch will come supplied on a 2pc handmade leather strap.
The wonderful non-luminous silver dial is in excellent vintage condition showing some light surface marks that are only visible under loupe. The yellow gold markers and the original yellow gold hands with black enamel inlay are in remarkable condition as well.
None. The watch is in perfect working condition, additional service history is unknown.
