"Champagne Supernova" Tropical 1979 Rolex Datejust (Ref. 16030)
This 1979 Datejust Ref. 16030 has a jaw-dropping tropical dial that we have affectionally named the "Champagne Super Nova". Due to the insanely beautiful dial that has achieved a "supernova" like the patina that extends outward from the center of the dial in a beautiful and even fashion. Tropical dials are much like a supernova in that they rarely occur which makes each and every tropical dial something that is unique onto itself. This specific example is no exception to that rule making it not only eye-catching when worn on the wrist but also making it "piece unique" as this is the only one with this specific patina pattern known to exist.
The Rolex Datejust ref. 16030 is a transitional reference as it retains an acrylic crystal similar to earlier vintage Datejusts, but the movement is a Rolex cal. 3035 which possesses the "Quick-Set" date function which comes in handy when needing to quickly adjust the date!
