*Unpolished* 1975 Rolex Datejust (Ref. 1603) Silver "Sigma" Dial

The Rolex Datejust is one of the most iconic and most beloved Rolex watches ever made. Launched in 1945, it has remained a timeless classic, instantly recognizable as an item of advanced quality and functional design. The Datejust’s exemplary style makes it an extremely versatile choice, worn just as easily with a suit as with jeans and a t-shirt. The Datejust would make a wonderful starting point for a new vintage collector and is always a great addition to an expanding collection.

Worn with ease in any setting, the Datejust is a classic for a reason. We love the early Rolex Datejust for its simplicity and its understated sophistication and this example is no exception, featuring a bright and beautiful silver Sigma dial.

A Sigma dial is a Rolex dial named for the letters printed at the bottom of the dial at the 6 o'clock position. Most Rolex Datejust dials are commonly marked with “T Swiss T,” under the 6 o'clock marker, however, a Sigma dial is marked “σ T SWISS T σ.” This signifies the use of gold components within the dial.

The stainless steel engine-turned bezel is in unpolished condition as well, with extremely pronounced bevels and edges throughout the finishing. The case back is in great condition itself and retains its original factory sticker, though it is worn from wear. The original Rolex 78360 Oyster bracelet with 558 end pieces retains 12 links that show no stretch and will fit up to a 7 1/4-inch wrist.

The original "pie-pan" silver sunburst dial Sigma dial is flawless, showing no age or damage on the dial whatsoever. The tritium lume plots have achieved a strong golden-yellow patina and exhibit no degradation when inspected under UV light. The original tritium hands match the dial perfectly and show no degradation under UV light inspection. The metallic date wheel is original with "open" 6's and 9's.
