*Unpolished* 1984 Rolex GMT-Master II (Ref. 16760) "Fat Lady"
Introduced in 1983 the Rolex reference 16760 was the first reference of the GMT-Master II and premiered significant new and exciting features that evolved the GMT-Master platform. The Rolex GMT Master Ref. 16760 was only in production from 1983 until 1988.
These features included a sapphire crystal, an independent ability to set the GMT hand, a thicker case that earned the reference the nickname "Fat Lady", the first GMT to use a black and red insert sometimes referred to as the "Coke" insert and a gloss black dial with white-gold index surrounds. The ref. 16760 is also sometimes referred to as the “Sophia Loren” drawing comparisons between the new curves of the watch and the Italian beauty.
This is a truly exceptional example and is becoming a highly sought-after modern classic. This piece would make a great stand-alone piece or a great addition to an existing collection!
