*Unpolished* 1984 Rolex Submariner (Ref. 16800) W/ Vivid Patina
This Rolex Submariner ref. 16800 is a very cool and transitional piece that combines the best elements of both the vintage and modern Rolex Submariner into one complete package.
The Rolex Submariner ref. 16800 was introduced in late 1979 and was the first Rolex Submariner model to include a sapphire crystal. In addition, Rolex introduced the signature click spring and the bezel became unidirectional instead of the previous bi-directional operation feature of the bezel found in the ref. 1680 offering more accuracy and securing the bezel from movement while being used for diving.

CASE & BRACELET
The impressively thick and crisp case is believed to remain unpolished with extremely defined factory geometry and sharp chamfers fully present. The case shows light signs of honest use throughout. The original bezel insert is in exceptional condition, remaining deep black in color, and retains its tritium pearl which has developed a deep caramel color that matches the patina of the hands very closely. The case back also remains very crisp with light wear from use shown. The original Rolex 93150 Oyster bracelet with 593 end pieces retains 11 links that show no stretch and will fit up to a 7 1/4-inch wrist.
DIAL & HANDS
The beautiful glossy black dial is in exceptional vintage condition, showing no damage and only a subtle, yet attractive, speckled patina from age. The dial also appears to be starting to take on a slight "tropical" patina, though it is not apparent enough to call this dial topical yet. The tritium lume plots have achieved a stunningly vivid golden-yellow patina with no degradation present under U.V. light inspection. The original tritium hands have aged a shade more caramel in color to match the bezel pearl perfectly, under U.V. light inspection no degradation is present in the hands, though some light corrosion is present on the minute hand. The white date wheel is original with "open" 6's and 9's.
