Aviator sunglasses were originally designed for the U.S. military in the 1930's in an effort to help flyers deal with the sun while operating aircraft in flight. The original design like the example we are offering here came with a G-15 tempered mineral glass lens configuration and flexible cable hook temples that hook behind the ears for secure fitment.
This specific example of vintage aviator glasses dates to the late 1940's and are in fully restored condition. The glasses come complete with the original American Optical folding metal case and the green lenses are made out of G-15 mineral glass and are free from any blemishes or scratches. The nose pieces are made of celluloid which is era correct for this rare and always classic pair of aviator sunglasses.
