Jaeger-LeCoultre
1950s LeCoultre For Van Cleef & Arpels 18K YG Bracelet Watch
Antoine LeCoultre founded his namesake workshop in 1833, quickly earning a reputation for producing exceptionally refined movement blanks for Switzerland’s most prestigious maisons—including Vacheron Constantin, Audemars Piguet, and Patek Philippe. In 1937, LeCoultre merged with Edmond Jaeger to form Jaeger-LeCoultre, though watches delivered to the American market continued to carry “LeCoultre” branding through the mid-20th century. This era produced some of the maison’s most elegant jewelry-centric designs, especially those crafted for elite retailers.
Among these was Van Cleef & Arpels, established in Paris in 1906 and celebrated for its innovative craftsmanship, exquisite materials, and elevated approach to high jewelry. Throughout the mid-century, Van Cleef & Arpels collaborated with top Swiss manufacturers—including LeCoultre—to produce refined, gem-like timepieces that blurred the line between watchmaking and haute joaillerie.
This 1950s LeCoultre for Van Cleef & Arpels bracelet watch exemplifies that union of technical precision and jewelry artistry. Fashioned entirely in 18K yellow gold, its petite round case houses a beautifully preserved LeCoultre dial and hands, framed by a richly textured rope-style bracelet that captures the sophistication of the era. Balancing femininity, craftsmanship, and mechanical heritage, this piece stands as a charming and historically significant example of two legendary maisons at their collaborative best.
