1998 Patek Philippe Aquanaut "Japan Edition" (Ref. 5066A) Blue Dial W/ Archive Extract On Order

$ 65,000

The Patek Philippe Aquanaut Ref. 5066A represents one of the most compelling early chapters in the Aquanaut story. Originally introduced in 1997 as the ref. 5060A to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Patek Philippe Nautilus, the Aquanaut emerged as the sportier, more contemporary sibling—retaining the signature porthole-inspired case and embossed dial, while introducing a bold new attitude. The subsequent ref. 5066A refined the formula with a slightly enlarged 36.5mm case and sapphire exhibition caseback, revealing the beautifully finished calibre 330 SC automatic movement bearing the Geneva Seal. It also continued the model’s pioneering spirit as one of the first Patek Philippe watches offered on a factory rubber “Tropic” strap, firmly establishing the Aquanaut as a modern luxury sports icon.

Presented here is the highly coveted 1998 “Japan Edition” ref. 5066A, produced in a limited run of approximately 500 examples exclusively for the Japanese market. Distinguished by its charismatic “Japan Blue” dial, this rarely encountered variant stands among the most collectible early Aquanauts. A gesture of appreciation toward Japan’s strong support of Patek Philippe throughout the 1990s, this edition pairs its striking blue dial with a matching blue rubber strap and stainless steel case, creating one of the most vibrant and desirable configurations of the reference, and capturing the spirit of late-1990s Patek Philippe: refined, forward-thinking, and increasingly sought after by discerning collectors.
