2000 Rolex Two-Tone Oysterquartz Datejust (Ref. 17013B) Silver Dial W/ Box & Papers

$ 8,850

The Rolex Oysterquartz Datejust is one of the most distinctive expressions of the Datejust, pairing familiar Rolex details with an angular silhouette that feels entirely its own. Introduced in 1977, the Oysterquartz emerged during a period when quartz technology was reshaping Swiss watchmaking. For Rolex, however, electronic timekeeping represented a serious engineering pursuit, resulting in a purpose-built collection with its own movements, cases, and integrated bracelets.

That commitment is evident in the caliber 5035, the in-house, 11-jewel quartz movement powering the Oysterquartz Datejust. Its substantial construction and carefully finished components reflect the quality associated with Rolex’s mechanical calibers, lending considerable watchmaking interest beneath the dial. With production spanning roughly a quarter-century, the Oysterquartz occupies a fascinating and comparatively uncommon corner of the Rolex catalog.

The reference 17013 brings the warmth of stainless steel and yellow gold to this unmistakable design. Its sharply defined case flows directly into an integrated, five-link bracelet, while the gold fluted bezel provides a familiar connection to the traditional Datejust. The combination is wonderfully architectural, balancing the bold geometry of the 1970s with the refinement that has long defined Rolex’s two-tone watches.

This example dates to 2000, placing it toward the end of the Oysterquartz’s production run, and features a silver dial that offers a restrained complement to the yellow gold accents. Accompanied by its box and papers, this ref. 17013B is a compelling choice for the collector drawn to classic Rolex design with a distinctly different character.
