*Unpolished* 1980s DOXA Sub 600T Divingstar (Ref. 4653) Orange Dial "Aubrey Era"
Doxa S.A. was founded in 1889 by Georges Ducommun as a maker of dress watches and other timepieces. In the late 1960s, Doxa decided to dedicate resources to produce a timepiece to be used exclusively for diving. Doxa consulted with various Navy dive teams and divers including Jacques Cousteau who was then chairman of "U.S. Divers." Doxa's innovative watches were quickly adopted by both commercial and military divers.
Jacques Cousteau, who at the time was the head of U.S. Divers, was so impressed by the Doxa Sub300T that he became a distributor of the reference in the United States and co-branded the dial of the Sub300T with the U.S. Divers logo.
The Doxa company was aimed to be the watch of choice for the emerging recreational diving community. With sturdy cases, high-visibility dials, and smart bezel design, the Doxa Subs quickly became the watch of choice for recreational divers in both America and Europe. Though Doxa S.A. saw relative success through the 40s and 50s, the 60s proved to be more challenging for the brand and Doxa went on to be purchased by Synchron towards the end of the 60s, added Doxa to a group that also included Ernest Borel and Cyma. The Doxa watches produced during this era are respectfully known as the Sychron-era of Doxa. After Synchron, Doxa was purchased again by the Aubry Freres Company in 1978, the watches produced during this ownership are known as the Aubrey-era for Doxa. In 1997 Doxa was purchased by the Jenny Family where it remains today as a heritage brand under the Jenny Umbrella.

CASE & BRACELET
The remarkably impressive and well-preserved case remains in its original unpolished condition, showcasing crisp finishing throughout with only gentle signs of previous use. The geometric design is flush with hard angles and contrasting surface finishes that give the watch an architectural appearance. The original "saw blade" bezel is uni-directional and is in flawless condition, showing no visible signs of use with the tritium-lumed triangle fully intact and matching the dial. The case retains its original screw-down crown located at the 4 o'clock position. The case back is unpolished as well with almost no evidence of previous use present. The original stainless steel Doxa flip-lock clasp bracelet doesn't show stretch, however, the bracelet features some movement which was part of the original design. The bracelet will fit up to a 7 1/4-inch wrist.
DIAL & HANDS
The original, high visibility, vibrant orange dial is flawless, showing no age or damage. The tritium lume plots exhibit a handsome creamy patina with no degradation present under UV light inspection. The original hands match the dial perfectly, under UV light inspection the hour hand exhibits some surface cracking but no actual degradation, and the minute and seconds hands remain fully intact.
ACCESSORIES
None. The watch is keeping time perfectly, but the service history is unknown. A movement service can be provided upon request.
