*Unpolished* 1978 Rolex Submariner (Ref. 1680) Mk. III Dial W/ Pumpkin Patina
The Rolex Submariner ref. 1680 is a stunning classic. First introduced in 1969, the ref. 1680 includes the date, unlike previous Submariners (ie, ref. 5512 and 5513). The Infamous Red Submariner is also a ref. 1680, which had the word "Submariner" in red lettering, was manufactured from 1969 to 1975. This watch is an example of what is referred to as the "White Dial." It is the first ref. 1680 with the word "Submariner" in white lettering.

CASE & BRACELET
The strong case is believed to remain unpolished, exhibiting honest wear throughout while retaining the factory chamfers and crisp lug holes. The original Mk. III "fat font" bezel insert has achieved a beautiful grey fade, showing light signs of use and retaining its tritium pearl, which is partially missing and features a nice patina that coordinates with the dial. The original Rolex 93150 Oyster bracelet with 580 end pieces has a "VC" date code, and retains 11 links that show minimal stretch and will fit up to a 7.5-inch wrist.
DIAL & HANDS
The original matte black Mk. III dial is in remarkably preserved vintage condition, with the only element of age being a few near-invisible tonal marks, while no actual damage is present. The tritium lume plots have achieved a vivid golden-orange "pumpkin" patina, and exhibit no degradation under UV light inspection. The original tritium hands feature a similar patina to the dial with a slightly lighter sautation in color and display no degradation under UV light inspection. The metallic date wheel is original with "open" 6 and 9 numerals.
ACCESSORIES
None. The watch was recently serviced and is keeping time perfectly, backed by a 1-year warranty on accurate timekeeping.
