1940s Vetta Chronograph "Spillmann Case" W/ Reverse Pushers

$ 5,850

Vetta is the little-known Italian arm of the Wyler watch company, though they operated mostly autonomously which allowed for the brand's Italian roots to shine through. Vetta is best known for its oversized chronographs, mostly built on a Spillmann case platform, though the brand experimented with other sports and dress watches as well.

This Vetta chronograph is one of those examples that employ a Spillmann waterproof chronograph case, but what's most interesting is the rare design of the pushers, which are often referred to as "reverse-pushers".

CASE & BRACELET

The large and beautifully crafted Spillmann case features broad, yet elegant angled lugs which completely retain the original design integrity despite being 80 years old. The case exhibits nominal evidence of previous polishing and only gentle signs of use. The original reverse pushers remain in excellent condition as well, and the large unsigned crown is believed to be original as well. The screw-down case back retains all of the original factory markings in fully present condition and shows light tool marks from previous movement services. The watch comes supplied on a 2pc handmade leather strap.

DIAL & HANDS

The beautifully aged and remarkably well-preserved dial has achieved a perfect vintage aesthetic through the even creamy patina. The red telemetre scale has faded but remains slightly present, while the black outer minute track remains fully present. The radium lumed numerals have aged to a near black patina with no notable degradation present under UV light inspection. The original blued hands are in excellent condition and have been professionally restored with radium which is a beige color.
